ir šimtmečių juoda audra jų neišraus, -
ar išdidi viršūnė tėviškės padangę ramią remia,
ar ūkanose prošvaisčių dairaus.

Esu pagairėj aš šiaurinio šalto vėjo,
esu aš kryžkelėj rytų ir vakarų,
daug Nemunu vandens, daug rytmečių šviesių tekėjo,
ir daug užgeso neprabrėškusių žarų ...

Ir sirpo vasaros, ir aukso saulė švietė,
ir klydo gervių klyksmas rudenio takuos,
visų pavasarių padangėj mano rankos plėtės,
ir paukštis svetimas žemyn nenulenkė šakos.
